I got an E-mail from my mother about the war in Iraq, I tried to gently explain to her that I am opposed to this war and no E-mail would convince me otherwise. She stated that I should consider the other point of view. I said that I had done this and I still wasn't buying anything the other side had to sell. I decided to prove this and that is what follows. I am not going to send this to her though because it would be as pointless as her sending it to me in the first place, it wouldn't change her mind and I would probably get yelled at and none of us want that.
There were 39 combat related killings
in Iraq during the month of January...
In the fair city of Detroit there were
35 murders in the month of January.
That's just one American city, about as
deadly as the entire war torn country of Iraq.
Maybe it's just me but I am against all those people dying in Detroit too. I think that is wrong and we should do something to fix it. Notice that this number of people dead includes only combat related deaths of AMERICAN soldiers (It may not say that, but it is the case). How many civilians were killed in January? That is hard to pinpoint because "We don't do body counts" - General Tommy Franks. But I did a little research and I have an estimate of between 121 and 128 Iraqi civilians were killed in January. Including Mustafa Jamal Shaikly - 10 years old who was killed by gunfire and Ghassan Adnan - 23 years old who is the same age that I was on that date who was killed by a gunshot and Siham Kalaf a 28 year old woman who was killed in a shelling. So I think that is a few more than the civilians killed in Detroit that month. I wanna know how many people died in Iraq due to war, not combat related deaths. How many Iraqis were killed by Iraqis because now there is no police force? How many people died due to inadequate medical care? Hmmm, I don't think I'll be getting any E-mails any time soon with these figures.
While some claim President Bush shouldn't
have started this war, consider the following ...
led us into World War II.
Germany never attacked us: Japan did.
From 1941-1945, 450,000 lives were lost,
an average of 112,500 per year.
Okay, I can't even get over this one. I will retaliate with one word that encompasses why we had every right to attack Germany: HOLOCAUST
finished that war and started one in Korea,
North Korea never attacked us.
From 1950-1953, 55,000 lives were lost,
an average of 18,334 per year.
Well then we shouldn't have done that now should we? We were fighting another useless cold war battle that created a country that HAS weapons of mass destruction and has THREATENED to use them against the US. Hmmm, guess there's just not enough oil in Korea eh? But I wasn't alive to voice my disagreement then but I will say it now, we shouldn't have attacked Korea.
John F. Kennedy...
started the Vietnam conflict in 1962.
Vietnam never attacked us.
I think we all know we should have stayed the hell out of this one. And if I had been alive then you should be damn sure that I would have protested that war too.
turned Vietnam into a quagmire.
From 1965-1975, 58,000 lives were lost,
an average of 5,800 per year.
Ditto for him too.
went to war in Bosnia without UN or French consent,
Bosnia never attacked us.
I never claimed Clinton was perfect. He shouldn't have done this BUT HE NEVER LIED ABOUT WHY WE WERE ATTACKING BOSNIA.
He was offered Osama bin Laden's head on a platter
three times by Sudan and did nothing.
What? When? I think I would have heard about this. As a matter of fact I think Bush would never have shut the fuck up about this if it were the case so I will disacknowledge it.
Osama has attacked us on multiple occasions.
SO f'uckING BOMB HIS ASS! Send more than 10,000 troops to find him! Bin Laden is NOT Iraq, I know that can be hard to grasp but here we go: Osama bin Laden = Person, Iraq = Country. Any stupid questions?
