Walk Away
on the sidewalk when it's half past three amand the cars pass, people don't stare this late at night
and you stand there and you promise me dreams I have had
but you're moving much faster than the speed of light
and the colors change so fast I can't keep track
your eyes are changing quicker than they can blink
one minute you understand, the next you are a stranger
I'm lost and I'm sorry and I'm trying to think
of something to say
something that you can't wash away
with cheap wine and a poem
with some cigarettes and a night
with some used-up one liners from some old black and white
movie
cause there's nothing in the way you say
don't walk away
and it's raining because a butterfly is flapping its wings
in london, you know everything is connected like this
if you needed something from me it might matter
to someone out there somewhere who's trying not to miss
there's a mailbox underneath my right lung
for the letters, I hope they aren't lies
and when it's empty I am useless to you
so please don't forget to write, I'll be quick with replies
I've got something to say
something that you can't wash away
with cheap wine and a poem
with some cigarettes and a night
with some used-up one liners from some old black and white movie and there's nothing in the way you say
don't walk away
and the words swim in front of my face like fish in the ocean, but you are slowing the pace the intention is clear, you're drawing me near, but I'm still unclear as to when I should hear you please...tell meif you got something to say....
