Creating a Wand
A wand is a tool used in Wicca and other forms of magick study. Its main purpose in any form is to center and focus energy. A wand can be useful in creating a circle, cleansing an object or area, protecting, defense, and, if necessary, to attack (but of course only as a defense mechanism. Otherwise would be contradictory to Wiccan law). Wands are often made during a trance coinciding with the witch's power cycle, the moon cycle, or a specific and meaningful Sabbat. A wand can be created out of many materials, which sometimes connects to the witch's element, but not always. Common substances for a wand include wood, bamboo, marble, glass, dried leaves or twigs bound together, shell, and rock. The easiest and most widely used wand is the wooden wand.
The first step in choosing a stick to make into a wand is basically going out and doing it upon instinct. Sometimes the piece of wood appears to glow, or it may be in an odd location. A wand can be any size or shape. Next, you will begin to peel off the park of the stick. This can be done by soaking it in a bath of water and other oils and liquids as well as a representative from each element. You will go into a slight daze as you prepare your wand. It is highly recommended to rub the stick down with salt. Also, you should lightly charge the wand the first time you hold it. In the future, you will be able to place more energy into the wand. Most of creating a wand is spiritual, and it will come to you in time. You need not finish a wand immediately, and it is better to wait and let its energy balance out with yours and your surroundings.
